Los Niños International Center Adoptions; non citizen adoptees

Intercountry Adoption

Heino and I adopted twins trans-racially in South America in 1973 and brought them home to the U.S.A. Adoption agencies wanted to know how we did it. Thus we found ourselves volunteering to coordinate adoptions, and writing literature on “how to adopt in Latin America” for prospective adoptive parents.

In 1981, we obtained a license for Los Niños International Adoption Center (LNI). Over the next three decades, we provided adoption services for nearly 3,000 children adopted from twenty countries. We trained the adopters to understand the procedures and to manage their original adoption documents.

By 2009, fewer orphaned and abandoned children were in need of families. We legally dissolved the agency and placed our files with the DFPS Voluntary Adoption Registry (VAR). www.dshs.state.tx.us. Persons adopted abroad who are not U.S. citizens will find help at EACH. www.EqualityFor AdoptedChildren.org.

Non-Citizen Adult Adoptees

Persons adopted abroad who are not U.S. citizens will find help at www.EqualityForAdoptedChildren.org. My article in the Adoption Advocate, titled, Protecting the Rights of Adoptees, was circulated in Congress in 2001. Relief has yet to come for thousands whose American parents failed to obtain U.S. citizenship for them. Such status compromises their potential to achieve gainful employment, receive college scholarships, acquire passports, and take advantage of a host of other rights due to U.S. citizens.

Click Books, Inside the Adoption Agency, for further information on adoption and non-citizen adoptees.
